Hi!
If you came out to Atlanta last week for Days of the Dead, thanks! It wasn't very profitable, but it WAS fun. The comic and horror cons have consistently gone down financially while the quality has gone up for fans. I think it may be a combination of over-saturation in the past few years and that bigger corporations swooped in and bought them up as investments, but other than bringing in big names, have no idea how to run them correctly. That's how cons have suddenly started obtaining the hottest current TV talent, such the The Stranger Things stars we had on DATD this weekend. When I met the kids, one asked how I was doing on Saturday.

"A little tired. I was up way too late," I said.

The one who plays Dustin: "Me, too. I was up until 3 playing video games! Were you?" Hahahaha! So adorable. Nope. I had a school paper due on myths, Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell's hero cycle. The best thing about them is that they were genuinely excited to be there and having a blast, not just putting in their time for a paycheck. I love that. Even though the money has dropped dramatically, I freaking love them, so I do the comic cons when I can. The vibe, meeting fans and like-minded people, networking, seeing friends, being around creative types and geek culture...it's worth not getting enough sleep.
